The Healing Time - Psychology Practice
My aim is to help people understand what lies beneath the difficulties they are experiencing. Together, we make sense of emotions, earlier experiences, and protective ways of coping so you can respond differently to yourself, others and life's challenges.
I work with adults who are curious about themselves and wanting to better understand the patterns shaping their emotions, relationships, and lives. My work draws on attachment and trauma-informed approaches, including Schema Therapy and EMDR.
I believe that people are not defined by the ways they have had to adapt. Given the opportunity to understand their experiences, process what has been painful, and feel emotionally safe, people have an innate capacity for healing, growth, and becoming more fully themselves.
Understanding What Lies Beneath
People often seek therapy because they are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in mood, or struggling in their relationships.
While these experiences can be distressing, I am interested in understanding what may lie beneath them. Often, present-day difficulties reflect ways of coping that once served an important purpose but are no longer helping you live the life you want.
Some of the underlying difficulties we may explore include:
Feeling stuck in familiar relationship patterns that you would like to change
Difficulty expressing your feelings and needs, or a tendency to suppress them
People-pleasing or difficulty setting boundaries
Feelings of not being good enough, self-doubt, or harsh self-criticism
Perfectionism, overfunctioning, or constantly pushing yourself too hard
